Grown, fermented, roasted, and served by one family
From blossom to brew, every step happens here. We grow, ferment, dry, roast, and serve our coffee on a single hillside in Escondido. A complete expression of one family, one farm, and one California terroir.
The Sunset Grove
The Sunset Grove is the vision of Fabio and María Fernanda, who grew up in the mountains of Colombia, surrounded by nature and with agriculture woven into their families and culture. In 2020, they came to the hills of Escondido, California, and became stewards of a twenty-year-old avocado orchard. A year later, they planted coffee beneath its canopy, beginning a new journey shaped by curiosity, observation, and a deep respect for the craft.
Today, they care for The Sunset Grove with the same patience and intention that have guided them from the beginning. Every tree, every harvest, and every cup reflects their belief that exceptional coffee begins with healthy soil, thoughtful stewardship, and the unique character of the place it calls home.
Meet Fabio and María Fernanda
Two acres. One hillside.
Two acres of Geisha and Catuaí grow beneath our avocado canopy at 1,550 feet in the hills of Escondido. Every cherry is picked by hand at peak ripeness, thoughtfully processed, and slowly dried to preserve the character of the fruit and the land. The grove is certified organic by CCOF, and farmed beyond it. With just one harvest each year, every lot reflects this hillside, this season, and our commitment to expressing California’s unique terroir.
Our Coffee
Four lots. One hillside.
Two Geisha and two Catuaí Rojo, picked by hand at 22 degrees Brix. The Geisha Honey is this year’s Founder’s Reserve.
The shade our coffee grows under
Our coffee grows beneath the shade of regeneratively farmed Hass avocados, creating an agroforestry system inspired by the forests where coffee naturally thrives. Together, they share the same living soil, the same careful stewardship, and the same commitment to quality. Each spring, members of La Reserva are invited to enjoy the season’s avocado harvest.
Our Avocados
September 2026
The 2026 harvest is in. Four lots came off the trees this season, picked by hand at 22 degrees Brix. All four are drying or resting now, and we cup them over the coming weeks.
